Since laying down our roots in north-west England over twenty-five years ago, we’ve grown steadily to become the strong hybrid workforce we are today – a close network of over 80 employee Partners nationwide, and beyond!
As a medium-sized agency we have the operational resource to deliver full-service consultancy and the agility, and in-house provision, to fulfil the unique needs of field and data only clients. We draw on our broad portfolio of qualitative and quantitative methodologies, and the latest developments in research technology and behavioural science, to craft effective, innovative solutions that meet business and audience needs. We go beyond the fundamentals of market research, providing valuable additional services which prove indispensable for many clients including our professional Creative Services division and online panel management team. Our creative team continually find new ways to bring research findings to life and, working closely with our researchers, they can ensure the powerful insights we uncover are communicated to your business, and your key stakeholders, in the most effective way. Our online panel capabilities are enhanced by our own in-house consumer panels which generate essential insight into key audiences, including children and young people, their parents and carers.

DJS Research was founded over 25 years ago by Danny Sims, in a humble garden shed in north-west England. From these soil-clad beginnings, after four years of hard work and elbow grease, the company became a limited business in 2005 and Danny’s wife, Research Director Ali Sims, came on board. They soon outgrew the garden shed and moved to their first office in rural Cheshire.
Danny and Ali were joined early on by three experienced and passionate researchers who shared their vision – Alasdair Gleed, James Hinde and Sharon Nichols. Together they enjoyed increasing success, driving sustained and significant year-on-year growth.
By 2017, DJS Research had become one of the largest market research agencies in the north of England with 55 permanent members of staff and its own in-house CATI department. A second office was opened in Leeds and we were named ‘One to Watch’ by the Market Research Society, ranking in the top 100 UK market research agencies.
On our 20th anniversary, after two decades of organic, and often double-digit, growth, we transitioned to become an employee-owned organisation, making our loyal and talented employees majority shareholders and company Partners. This progressive move has secured our independence, and our legacy, for years to come.
Today, DJS Research has over 80 employee Partners working from our two office locations or as part of our remote worker network, which spans the length and breadth of the UK – and a handful of international locations too! Our CATI department continues to thrive, with over 100 telephone interviewers (speaking to real people every day) and we’ve continued to expand our in-house capabilities adding new departments, such as our own Creative Services division, and a diverse range of bespoke DJS Research products, including our own panel, Opinion Exchange.
We’ve come a long way since those days in the garden shed, but the passion that started this story remains at our core. We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together, and we’re excited about what the future holds for our employee Partners and our clients.
