Market research case study:
Creative Services: Visualising rail safety segments

Network Rail

The challenge

Network Rail wanted to communicate key insights about three audience segments most at risk in rail environments: Impetuous Rule Breakers, Think Laters, and Direction Seekers. The goal was to create engaging, accessible outputs that made complex behavioural insights easy to understand for internal teams and stakeholders, while reinforcing the Network Rail brand.

The approach

The Creative Services team produced a long, scrollable infographic and an A4 printable version, both carefully designed using Network Rail’s brand hub to ensure consistent iconography, typography, and colour palette. The Network Rail picograms brought each segment to life, giving them personality and making the safety insights memorable. A short animated video summary, scripted by our team, complemented the infographic, providing a concise, engaging overview for internal dissemination.

The results

The outputs turned detailed segment analysis into clear, actionable communications tools. Teams could quickly understand behaviours, motivations, and effective messaging approaches, supporting more targeted rail safety initiatives while maintaining brand consistency.
