Residents survey 2019

London Borough of Merton

This report summarises the results of the 2019 borough-wide survey of 1,000 residents aged 18+ and 271 young people aged 11–17. The survey explored resident perceptions of their local area and council services, and was delivered through a face-to-face methodology between February 4 and 5 April 2019.

Between 1999 and 2014, the London Borough of Merton (from now on called LB Merton) conducted annual surveys of residents based on the Survey of Londoners model.

Following the conclusion of this survey in 2015, LB Merton commissioned a stand-alone survey of residents that took place in 2017, and DJS Research were commissioned to carry out the follow-up survey to this in 2019. The objective was to interview a representative sample of residents aged 18 and over, as well as explore the views and behaviours of young people aged 11–17.

All interviews were conducted using a face-to-face Computer Aided Personal Interviewing (CAPI) methodology. The interviews were conducted at residents’ homes within randomly selected areas (or sampling points).
