The survey aims to provide an independent, statistically sound picture of resident perceptions that can be tracked over time and used to inform strategy, service planning and performance monitoring at both borough and neighbourhood levels.
DJS Research was commissioned in October 2020 to design, manage and deliver the 2021 Residents’ Survey on behalf of Lambeth Council, building on previous waves and continuing a long‑running research programme. The research was conducted using a mixed‑mode methodology, combining online and telephone (CATI) interviewing to achieve a representative sample of residents. A total of 1,605 interviews were completed between May and June 2021, with rigorous sampling, quota controls and weighting applied to reflect the demographic profile of Lambeth’s population by age, gender, ethnicity, economic status and disability.
The survey gathered insight on a broad range of issues, including satisfaction with the local area and council services, perceptions of safety and community cohesion, and residents’ priorities for local improvements. Results were analysed at borough level and by key sub‑groups, helping the council understand variations in experiences and views across different parts of the community. This evidence provides a strong foundation for data‑driven decision-making and enables Lambeth Council to track trends over time in areas that matter most to residents.
DJS Research’s involvement ensured high methodological standards and quality insight, supporting Lambeth Council in understanding resident sentiment and aligning future plans and services with community needs.
