Health & social care services survey

Healthwatch Rutland

The NHS Constitution gives patients the right to choose a provider on first referral to a consultant-led service for elective care. The public has a bigger hand in shaping local care systems, and service providers are listening more to the people who use them about their needs.

Local Involvement Networks (now Healthwatch Rutland) take up issues raised by local people, and work with service providers and commissioners to make improvements to local NHS and social care services. Rutland LINk commissioned DJS Research to help them engage with residents and obtain their feedback on local health and social care provision.

Methodology

A quantitative approach was deemed appropriate as this would allow for data analysis. A telephone survey was conducted with 600 residents of Rutland to seek their views on local health and social care service provision. A pilot survey was completed with 20 participants before the main survey, and the main fieldwork took place between 7 and 20 March 2011.
