Data: The energy industry's rotten apple?

ENSEK

A white paper presenting the findings of DJS Research's independent research into the role of data quality in both customer satisfaction and business performance for the UK energy supply industry.

The focus of this report is to explore the role that data has to play in creating and exacerbating such hot spots for dissatisfaction and, out of that understanding, to identify potential routes towards solving the problems.

The energy suppliers interviewed for this report highlighted that the largest problem in these areas is indeed attributable to data issues, creating some of the most common causes for complaints such as inaccurate bills and delays in switching.

The interviewees explained that poor quality or inaccurate data fed into supplier operating systems generates billing errors, or creates ‘bill shock’ for thousands of customers who unexpectedly receive demands for large amounts of money from suppliers finally reconciling their accounts.
