Based on responses from 275 women, the report highlights a strong desire to remain active throughout pregnancy and the postnatal period, while revealing persistent challenges such as time pressures, childcare responsibilities, and uncertainty about what exercise is safe. Gaps in advice and support are also evident, despite national and international guidelines recommending 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity per week, with well-established benefits for maternal and infant health.
The survey was conducted by the Active Pregnancy Foundation in partnership with UK Sport, UKactive, and the Perinatal Physical Activity Research Group (PPARG) at Canterbury Christ Church University, forming the first year of a three-year study.
Our Creative Services team supported the project by transforming the survey findings into a clear, engaging and accessible report, ensuring the insights are easy to navigate, understand, and share. View the creative services case study of their work with Active Pregnancy Foundation.
