Survey uncovers UK cities which have the most rewarding bosses

May 2013

Survey uncovers UK cities which have the most rewarding bosses: Market research by Jurys Inn Hotels and CrossCountry trains, which questioned 2,500 office workers, has revealed the Top Ten cities in the UK when it comes to bosses that reward their workers.

Milton Keynes was found to have the highest percentage of managers (97%) who reward their team’s successes, such as a business meeting or pitch that went very well.

The rest of the Top Ten cities were Cardiff in second place, followed by Belfast, Portsmouth, Norwich, Southampton, London, Edinburgh, Newcastle and finally Swindon and Watford in joint tenth position.

In addition, the survey discovered the most common way that managers treat their staff – office snacks, such as cakes or nibbles. This was followed in popularity by ordering a round of drinks or taking the team for lunch.

Suzanne Cannon, Group Marketing Manager at Jurys Inn, further explained the survey results: “We have seen a 144% rise in the number of guests signing up to our Jurys Rewards loyalty scheme over the last year. It appears that more and more people want to feel that they are being recognised for their efforts…”

The study also found the majority of respondents reported that after a stressful day, they are most likely to go home and put their feet up, watch TV or cook a tasty meal, instead of opting to head for the pub.
