Survey shows worst place in UK for parking: A new survey by AXA Car Insurance has found that many of the towns and cities in Wales are rated worst in the nation for both parking and driver aggression.
Of the 2,000 people who took part on the poll, 18% of those visiting Wrexham had searched for more than 90 minutes before finally finding a parking space. The second worst place to park in Britain was Aberystwyth, at 11% for the length of time it took.
In contrast, Cardiff fared better as two thirds of shoppers claimed they never had to search for a parking space there for longer than 20 minutes.
Swansea was also listed amongst the five worst places to park in Britain for aggressive driving practices, with one in 20 residents of the area admitting they would attempt to use physical and verbal intimidation to secure a parking space.
Meanwhile, the Centre Manager of Wrexham’s Eagles Meadow shopping complex, Kevin Critchley, strongly denied the survey findings, saying they have adequate parking and that London is far worse.
Wrexham Council’s Head of Environment, John Bradbury, also defended the area: “Our car parks are monitored regularly and are covered by CCTV and we have no knowledge of lengths of queuing such as reported in the study.”
