Survey shows fleet leaders 'cautiously optimistic' despite fuel challenges: A survey by GreenRoad entitled ‘Fleet Leader 2013 Outlook’ suggests that the majority (56%) of UK fleet leaders are cautiously optimistic about 2013. Only slightly more than one in ten (12%) are very optimistic, and around a fifth (22%) are neutral about the coming twelve months. The report asked 1000 fleet managers and decision makers their opinions, fleet sizes ranged from fewer than 25 vehicles to over one thousand and included company cars, haulage and logistics, delivery vans and passenger transport.
Positive reasons for the cautious optimism include the addition of fuel efficient vehicles, effective cost-cutting programs and the introduction of new technology and improved driver training.
Two thirds (67%) expect a modest rise in the price of fuel in the coming year and the vast majority state that reducing fuel expenses for their fleet will be a significant or very significant challenge. Over a third (36%) cited cutting fuel costs as the biggest challenge facing them in 2013. This was followed by complying with regulations (20%) and ensuring driver safety (16%).
