Survey reveals the UK as top shopping destination in Europe: The latest retail market research by YouGov has seen Britain crowned in top position as the best place in Europe to visit when it comes to shopping opportunities.

Holidaymakers from across the continent took part in the EuroTrack survey. A third of respondents (32%) voted Britain as the best European shopping destination, followed jointly by Italy and France at 20% to round out the top three. Meanwhile, Germany came in at 19% and Spain at 16%.

In contrast, the European countries voted at the lowest rung on the list for retail offerings were Poland (7%), Estonia (7%) and Sweden (6%).

The YouGov survey also gathered opinions to discover the top voted European destinations for good food – Italy ranked highest at 48%, followed closely by France at 45%.

Furthermore, although Spain got an average grading in the shopping category, it ranked highest for 'good fun, socialising and parties' (41%). Respondents voted for Greece in second place at 18%, followed by Italy (16%) and the UK (13%).
