Survey reveals rise in Britons using mobile internet: A new survey carried out by Carphone Warehouse has shown that 69% of UK mobile users have increased their internet usage over the last year.
The poll was undertaken to coincide with the new unlimited internet tariff offered by Talkmobile. Of the 2,000 respondents who took part, 38% revealed that they have been using mobile internet to access various social networking platforms, 26% have been sending or receiving email on their devices, 14% are using the web via their mobile to get news updates and 4% used their smartphones for travel directions.
In total, 70% of those surveyed said that they accessed the web on their mobile at least once a day, with 50% claiming to access it every few hours. In terms of where the usage increase occurs, 72% of women go online using their mobile while in bed.
All in all, 58% of the respondents rated that the cost of using the internet on their mobile devices as too high.
Carphone Warehouse representative, Mark Eastham commented: “We want people to be able to get the most from their technology, even in the face of such a difficult economic climate.”
