Survey reveals many Britons have dropped their mobile phone in the loo: A new study by comparison website GoodMobilePhones.co.uk has uncovered an embarrassing fact - almost half of all water-damaged phones in the UK have resulted from ending up in the toilet bowl.
The nationwide survey asked 1,937 mobile users over the age of 18 how careful they are with their must-have devices.
The findings saw men being three times more likely to damage their phone than women – of the 31% of Britons who’ve damaged their handset with water or another liquid substance at some point, 73% were male compared to 27% of females.
In addition, 12% of those polled admitted they had dropped their phone in the bath or shower, proving that there are few places these days where people won't take or make a call.
The study also revealed that the majority of Britons at 86% had not insured their mobile prior to sending it to its watery grave.
Mark Owen, founder of GoodMobilePhones.co.uk, commented: “'I know mobile phone insurance can seem like an expensive addition to a monthly phone bill, but often it can be something really worth thinking about, especially if you are prone to being a bit clumsy... smartphones can be expensive to replace.”
