Survey highlights UK businesses suffer increasing costs from it downtimes: An independent study released by networking infrastructure provider Allied Telesis International has shown that IT downtime has become a critical risk to businesses.
The survey questioned 401 managers in large UK companies across nine key sectors within both the public and private sector.
It was revealed that since organisations place increasing amounts of vital company data and documents on corporate networks and in the cloud, network service fall downs and slow Internet connection have become the main barriers to work productivity.
This was backed up by the fact that although 92% of the managers surveyed are reliant on network access to do their job, 86% experience some form of downtime every month while 28% suffer 5 or more instances monthly.
In addition, 68% of the respondents claimed slow Internet or inability to access documents from a network directly affects their productivity, as well as having a major effect on the ability of their team to complete essential business tasks.

Many businesses are struggling in this tough economy and need to maximise whatever competitive advantage they can.”
