Survey finds SME manufactures have experienced another decline in export orders: A recent survey has revealed that UK SME manufacturers have experienced another decline in export orders in the three months before the survey was conducted.
Despite the decline in export orders, the SME manufacturers revealed that they had also had a slight increase in total new orders on the back of a small increase in the demand from within the United Kingdom’s market-place.
The survey from the Confederation of British Industry also indicated that small and medium businesses in the manufacturing industry increased the numbers of employees in the three months before the survey was conducted.
The output volumes for the manufacturers were found to be mainly flat in the same time period, according to the Confederation of British Industry.
24 per cent of the small and medium sized manufacturers revealed that they had seen a decrease in new export orders in the last three months. Further to this, just 17 per cent said that they had experienced an increase.
The average export prices also fell in the three months before the survey, with per cent of small and medium manufacturers citing a fall in export prices. Of the SME manufacturers in the survey, 11 per cent said that they had seen a fall in export prices. On the other hand, 5 per cent of SME manufacturers saw a rise in new domestic orders in the three months before the survey.
