Survey finds small businesses are impacted by slow broadband: A recent survey has revealed that the average small business in Scotland could potentially lose one day’s work per week as a result of slow internet connection.
The market research, which spoke to more than 100 small to medium businesses in Scotland, discovered that the average employee wastes 15 minutes every day as a result of slow broadband connection. With this in mind, a business with eight members of staff could lose one working day every week whilst they wait for the internet to connect.
Conducted by Virgin Media Business, the market research also discovered that 56 per cent of small businesses in Scotland said they could not keep functioning without connection to the internet, whereas 42 per cent said that they believe an improved internet speed would help their business grow.
Of the businesses in the survey, 35 per cent said that slow internet connection is the biggest waste of time within their company, a further 41 per cent said that procrastination was the biggest time waster, citing Facebook and online distractions as the biggest drain of productivity.
