November 2016

Survey finds most estate agents have not been impacted by Brexit: A recent housing survey has revealed that almost 2 in 3 estate agents in the United Kingdom have not been affected by Britain’s vote to leave the European Union, and they have not experienced a decrease in activity as a result of the referendum.

Of the estate agents in the survey – which was conducted by the cloud-based estate agency software provider, Dezrez – approximately 64 per cent said that they had not devised a Brexit strategy plan because they do not feel that one is necessary.

The software provider also discovered that estate agents’ confidence has increased since the referendum earlier in the year. When Dezrez questioned estate agents just after the vote to leave the European Union, they found that 22 per cent of estate agents felt that there was no need for one, in comparison with the most recent figure of 64 per cent.

The survey findings revealed that 53 per cent of estate agency do not believe that Brexit has had any notable impact on their business as of yet. However, 40 per cent of the respondents said that Brexit has had some negative effects. As well as this, 55 per cent said that they have not noticed any change in house prices since the referendum; on the other hand, 37 per cent said that the Brexit vote had indeed caused some uncertainty in prices which has resulted in lost sales as a result.

Approximately 60 per cent of the respondents said that they had seen no change in the number of first time buyers entering the market since Brexit. On the other hand, 17 per cent said that they had seen an increase and 65 per cent said that there had been no change in the number of foreign investors.
