Survey finds Dundee university provides best student experience

April 2012

Survey finds Dundee university provides best student experience: A recent survey has found that students at the University of Dundee enjoy the best quality of university life within the UK. The Times Higher Education magazine’s annual poll was based on the opinions of over 14,000 UK undergraduates. Students were asked to score their experience of university life across 21 categories, including the quality of lectures, social life and accommodation.

Dundee’s maiden win in this survey means that they have risen from fifth place last year and have now displaced Loughborough (who won last year’s survey). Dundee scored highly on almost every aspect of university life covered within the survey.  Students gave particularly strong positive feedback on Dundee’s accommodation, students' union and social activities.

This success follows on from significant recent investment in Dundee University – with £200 million being invested in its campus over the past few years. This investment program has involved the building of new student accommodation, sporting facilities and a major Library extension.

But that’s not the only reason for Dundee’s success.  Iain Kennedy, president of Dundee's Students' Association, said: "There are so many good things about being a student in Dundee. Almost all of the accommodation is either on campus or within a few minutes walk so there is a real 'student village' feel to the place, and at the same time we are right in the centre of a vibrant city.
