Survey finds DIY-loving Britons frustrated by crucial PC know-how: A survey commissioned by Crucial.com has discovered high levels of anger and frustration amongst British computer owners – indicating that DIY know-how should extend beyond home improvements to PC memory upgrades.
The study of more than 2,000 Britons aged 18–70 found that while 60% of respondents claim they are extremely irritated by the amount of time a slow computer wastes, a quarter actually get most frustrated because they simply don’t know how to sort out their snail-paced PC.
In addition, a total of one in ten of the surveyants admitted to becoming so angry with their slow computer that they have physically attacked it.
This level of outrage is frequently occurring despite the fact that while 90% of respondents are happy to tackle DIY when it comes to their homes, less than half would consider turning their attention to their computer enough to perform a simple memory upgrade.
Marketing Director of Crucial.com, Roddy McLean, commented: “We really are a nation of DIY addicts, but for some reason this doesn’t stretch to our home computers. Installing an easy-to-do memory upgrade is the modern day equivalent of DIY; if you can change a plug or paint a wall you can [or should be able to] install a memory upgrade.”
