Survey discovers best and worst UK airports

April 2013

Survey discovers best and worst UK airports: A survey by Skyscanner, which asked 1600 British flyers to rate 15 of the UK’s busiest airports, has seen Manchester crowned in top position.

The third busiest flight hub in the country, Manchester airport was voted as having the best customer service, facilities and shopping as well as the best bars and restaurants. Respondents also praised it for having good accessibility as well as being organised and passenger friendly.

Britain's second busiest airport, Gatwick, was rated as second best, with passengers giving its staff and large check-in areas good ratings. Meanwhile, Heathrow also made the top five rated airports.

In contrast, Aberdeen airport was rated lowest – it was given the thumbs down for its facilities, including complaints that its baggage carousel area is in need of updating.

Three of the capital’s main airports also fared badly as they were placed in the bottom five, namely Luton, City and Stansted. Passengers of London City were displeased by its expensive parking, while Stansted caused people to become disgruntled because of its long queues at check-in.
