Royal Society of Chemistry survey results to inform future development and professional support

April 2020

Royal Society of Chemistry survey results to inform future development and professional support: The results of a survey polling 6,000 members of the Royal Society of Chemistry have been published, which will be used to inform the future development and professional support the organisation offers to its members.

The survey, which is carried out every two years and polls respondents from across the industry including researchers, consultants, teachers and lecturers, asks members about all aspects of their membership to gauge satisfaction levels and get feedback on the broader organisation.

When asked the degree to which they agree with the statement 'I am proud to be a RSC member', the survey found that 93% of members said they are 'proud' – with two thirds saying they 'strongly agree' with the statement (24% slightly agree). The research also shows that satisfaction has increased since 2018, with 46% rating the organisation as excellent, whilst 47% said it was 'good' - an overall increase of 4% in two years ago.

When members were asked about their sense of belonging to the organisation, 36% said they 'strongly agree' up from 33% two years ago, while 41% said they slightly agree, again up from 2018, when 39% said the same.

Around a fifth of the members polled (21%) rated member benefits and services as 'excellent' – up from 17% in 2018, while more than half (52%) said they were 'good'. Almost a quarter (23%) rated them as 'fair' while 4% said they were 'poor'.
