Research finds manufacturing considered a practical career in India: A new report, 'Engaging the Modern Manufacturing Workforce' commissioned by Kronos incorporated and conducted by IDC reveals that 92 percent of Indians felt the manufacturing sector was a practical career option. Australia and China were ranked the lowest, with only 74 percent and 70 percent respectively feeling that the sector represented a good career choice.
The study utilised new primary research with 550 workforce management stakeholders across eleven countries, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Mexico, Spain, United Kingdom and the US.
The companies involved in the research comprised a diverse collection of both discrete and process manufacturers. The survey also found that Indian manufacturers think that absences can impact productivity - 36% of Indian respondents considered absenteeism to be a problem for the manufacturing sector, the highest number for any country in the report.
