Report gives insight in to construction and property sector employment

August 2012

Report gives insight in to construction and property sector employment: Property and construction market research, carried out by/for Reed Global for their “Property and Construction Market Insight 2012” report, gives details on the state of employment in the property and construction sector. Some elements of the research were carried out by Opinion Matters.

Three fifths of property and construction professionals are satisfied with their position, with just over a third of those (21.9% of the total) very satisfied. 18.3% of respondents were either very or fairly unsatisfied, with the remainder feeling ambivalent. That said, almost half of respondents from London were either actively looking to planning to look for a new position in the coming year. Nationally, 39.2% of respondents were either actively looking or planning to do so.

Though the majority of professionals in this sector felt secure in their role, those with recruitment responsibilities felt more so than others in their teams. In terms of rewards, 28.7% said they had received training, 21.7% had received a pay rise with the same number again receiving a bonus. 20.9% of respondents said they had received some sort of staff entertainment, with 2.9% stating they had received another form of reward. Notably however, just under half (47%) of respondents stated that they had received none of the rewards listed above in the last twelve months. In addition, over a tenth (12.9%) had not received a pay rise for 5 years or more – almost 4 in 5 (79.3%) had received a pay rise in the last three years.
