Poll uncovers top British pet hates during the festive season: In the run-up to Christmas 2011, a poll carried out by money saving website DiscountVouchers.co.uk has revealed the top bug bears that the British public experience over the festive season.
Highest on the list of UK consumer annoyances is overcrowding when shopping for Christmas gifts – at 32%, this is the leading festive pet hate.
The second highest rated irritation for those who took part in the survey, at 31%, is over-hyping of Christmas which starts much too early.
Next on the poll listing of annoyances was commercialism, followed by surveyants complaining that the true meaning of Christmas has been lost.
In addition, the cost of presents and parties, the Queen’s Speech, carols and Christmas TV all ranked high for respondents when it comes to raising irritation levels during December.
It seems the constant barrage of advertisements and carols on TV and in retail stores to push the public into a shopping frenzy has been proven to be off-putting, and even time-old traditions such as the Queen’s Speech can be grating.
