PC excellence survey finds Virgin Media and 3 mobile top for mobile broadband

September 2011

PC excellence survey finds Virgin Media and 3 mobile top for mobile broadband: The annual PC Pro Excellence Awards have seen Virgin Media and 3 Mobile announced as the UK's best mobile broadband providers at a ceremony in London last night.

More than 11,000 readers of the magazine voted for the winners of 19 categories in the 2011 survey.

PC Pro named Virgin and 3 Mobile as joint winners of the mobile broadband category after just 0.01% separated the two companies in overall user satisfaction ratings.

Virgin Media was rated top for reliability at 75%. Although they piggyback on network operator T-Mobile's infrastructure for their mobile broadband service, Virgin also scored 68% for speed – 6% higher than T-Mobile.

Meanwhile, just under four-fifths of 3 Mobile customers said they would be happy to recommend their Internet service to their friends and family. Those polled were particularly impressed with 3 Mobile’s connection speeds (70%) and value for money (73%).

Rounding out the top five at the Awards in this category, Be Broadband took second place, O2 came in third, Eclipse Internet fourth and was followed by Plusnet.

AOL came last in the listing with a total score of just 43%.
