Market research reveals UK managers feeling positive about 2013: A CMI survey of almost 600 UK managers has discovered a positive outlook for the new year, with just over half of the respondents believing that 2013 will fare better for their businesses.
The annual Future Forecast seeks to measure business confidence for the year ahead. Positivity among managers regarding their company’s prospects has currently reached 53%.
When it comes to job security, 68% of managers feel confident of their position in 2013, representing a 6% rise on 2011. In addition, fewer managers are expecting to make redundancies next year and 47% think they could get a new job within three months if they themselves were made redundant, compared to 37% in 2011.
The market research also found that despite economic optimism remaining low this year, 46% of managers are expecting a ‘go get ‘em’ attitude in the office for 2013.
CMI chief executive, Ann Francke, commented on findings: "We could be seeing a pivotal moment, where UK employers start to look ahead with renewed optimism. While 2013 is expected to be another tough year, it looks like many managers are confident about their organisations’ prospects.”
