March 2013

Market research reveals satisfaction levels of Britons who travel by bus: A survey by watchdog organisation Passenger First, which interviewed 22,000 Britons across the country who regularly take the bus, has measured the passenger satisfaction rating for different operators.

Value for money on bus services in Bath was rated particularly poorly at 35%, compared to the national average of 54%. The dominant operator First in that sub-region, which covers B&NES, Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset, scored even lower at 33%.

The overall passenger satisfaction with bus journeys in the Bath area fared better however – the regional approval rate was 82%, while the First rating stood at 80%. This compares to the national average for all bus operators, which is currently measured at 84%.

All in all, bus passengers in Nottingham were found to be the most satisfied in general with a rating of 92%, while passengers in Milton Keynes were the least satisfied at 73%. When it came to value for money, the survey respondents varied in scores from 30% to 70% across the areas surveyed.
