Man City’s Champions League campaign not good enough, survey finds

April 2015

Man City’s Champions League campaign not good enough, survey finds: A recent MEN Sport survey has found that fans believe Manchester City’s most recent campaign has been ‘not good enough’.

After City’s 3–1 defeat to Barcelona in the Europe’s premier cup competition, fans were asked by MEN Sport to have their say on how important European improvement is, the efforts this season and who is to blame for the early exit.

The survey also found that fans of the club believe that the players are to blame for this, not Manchester City’s manager, Manuel Pellegrini.

The survey found that despite Pellegrini being criticised for using the 4–4–2 in the first half of the match against Barcelona, the players were to blame for the defeat, with 27.9 per cent blaming Pellegrini and 49.9 per cent blaming the players.

It was also found that Farran Soriano and Txiki Begiristain received 22.2 per cent of the votes for their role in the transfers.

50.9 per cent of the respondents claimed that Pellegrini deserves another season as the manager of Manchester City, whilst 39.3 per cent claimed that he should be replaced in the summer.

Of the respondents, 49.8 per cent claim that success in Europe should be focussed on above anything else in the next few years.

69.9 per cent of the fans surveyed agreed with the statement: “Results and performance have not been good enough. Change is needed – wherever we finish.”

However, 25.7 per cent believe that coming second place in the Premier League would be good enough.

Just 4.4 per cent of the fans who took part in the survey are happy with how things turned out this season.
