Liverpool rated best nightlife city in UK, Manchester voted second: A survey by travel website Trip Advisor has found Liverpool rated top city for the best nightlife in the UK.
Liverpool’s highest rated nightlife spots included their famous Cavern Club and the historic Albert Docks area.
Manchester, where the study was conducted, ranked at second place, while London was voted third.
Trip Advisor spokeswoman Emma Shaw commented: "Mancunians may be disappointed to see their city beaten by Liverpool, but to be named Britain’s second-best nightlife destination is a real testament to Manchester’s legendary party scene."
Top visitor attractions on a night out in Manchester were The Royal Exchange in first place, The Lowry in second position (despite actually being in Salford), extravagant bar The Molly House in third and Deansgate’s Comedy Store in fourth place.
Speaking proudly about their rating, Paul Simpson, Managing Director of Visit Manchester, said: "The city’s nightlife offering is one of its biggest tourism draws. Live music, of all genres, is a particular strength – with everything from upcoming DJs to the Halle Orchestra attracting visitors to the city."
