Holiday survey sees Britons as enthusiastic as ever about travelling abroad: Market research conducted on behalf of Tesco Travel Money has discovered that despite the poor economy and a near triple-dip recession, Britons are as geared up as ever for overseas travel.
In total, 46% of the people who took part in the survey reported planning to travel abroad as much as or even more frequently than they did five years ago. In addition, 35% of the respondents are set to take a holiday break in the next three months, with the figure rising to 42% for 18–24 year olds.
The study also revealed that Britons remain in love with the seaside – particularly following the UK’s coldest winter in years, 38% of the surveyants have picked beach holidays as their preferred choice of holiday. Furthermore, as many as two thirds of respondents claimed they wouldn’t consider going on a getaway that didn’t involve being close to the beach, while 78% wouldn’t choose a travel destination that failed to be warm and sunny.
Head of Travel Money at Tesco Bank, Doug Gowan, commented on the findings: “Our market research has identified that although Brits are watching their spending, holidays abroad are still a priority for them.”
