Coolest brand of 2011 revealed

September 2011

Coolest brand of 2011 revealed: The annual Superbrands survey has found Aston Martin voted as the UK’s ‘coolest’ brand. The company beat Apple (in second place) to win the title for the second year running.

Founded in London in 1995, Superbrand commissions independent research to find the strongest brand names in the UK. Its annual league tables are drawn from opinions of marketing experts, thousands of UK consumers and UK business people. The votes of 2,000 people were drawn from a shortlist selected by a panel of experts.

Stephen Cheliotis, Chairman of the Cool Brands Expert Council, commented: "Cool is subjective and personal. But being identified as a Cool Brand by the British public and a panel of influential opinion formers implies it is a brand that most Brits wish to own."

Aston Martin cars are famous for being synonymous with James Bond – they first came to the spotlight in the 1964 film Goldfinger.

Further findings saw the Tate Modern ranking in 19th place – it was the only 'cool' cultural venue to make the list this year.

In addition, the study found that women are just as interested in technology brands as men, with 47% of females voting Apple as their favourite techy brand and 44% rating BlackBerry as top.
