A third of advertising and marketing professionals have been affected by stress or anxiety: A survey of advertising and marketing professionals has found that a third (33%) have been affected by stress or anxiety, with 14% of these saying that their stress/anxiety was primarily work related. The research also found that work-related stress was higher amongst disabled respondents (22%), LGB+ respondents (21%) and carers (19%). Stress and anxiety was also more likely to have impacted younger people, with 38% of 25–34 year-olds saying they have been affected, compared to a quarter of 45–54 year-olds (25%).
The All In Census was conducted as a joint project between the Advertising Association, the IPA, ISBA and Kantar and is UK advertising’s only industry-wide survey. The latest survey polled almost 19,000 respondents from across advertising and marketing.
Employee retention
Looking at employee retention, the survey found that more than a fifth of respondents polled said they are likely to hand in their notice in the coming year, with better opportunities/salary elsewhere the top reason cited (71%). Just over a quarter said it was due to a poor work-life balance (26%), while around one in five (19%) said it would be due to a change in career. Other reasons included: 'personal reasons', lack of inclusion/discrimination (13%) and relocating area or country (8%).
Menopause
The latest survey also contained questions around menopause for the first time, with 56% of respondents saying that they believe their company would benefit from menopause awareness training, with just 25% sure that their company has a menopause policy in place. Almost two-thirds said they 'didn't know', while 10% said 'no' they have not.
