55% of people believe Keir Starmer was right to block Jeremy Corbyn from standing as Labour MP: A survey of people in the UK has revealed that more than half (55%) are of the opinion that Labour Leader, Sir Keir Starmer was correct to block Jeremy Corbyn from standing as a Labour MP at the next general election.

The polling by Savanta for PoliticsHome questioned 2,144 people, finding that just under quarter (23%) believe that blocking Corbyn was the wrong thing to do and 22% feeling unsure about whether they support the move or not.

When asked if Starmer’s action to block Corbyn would affect how they vote at the next election, more than a quarter said it would  have an impact – with 16% saying it would make them more likely to vote for Labour, while 12% it would make them less likely. Almost two-thirds of respondents (64%) said it would not affect where they put the mark on their ballot paper.

In another poll looking at energy, PoliticsHome found that more than half the respondents polled were in support of the renationalisation of energy. More than a quarter said they would 'strongly support' the move, with 29% saying they were 'somewhat' in support. Around a fifth said they were neither in support or supported the move, while 12% oppose it. Around one in ten answered 'don't know'.
