41% of UK citizens satisfied with the Government’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic: A recent survey by YouGov has revealed that over four in ten Brits believe the Government has handled the pandemic well, an increase from 39% during the corresponding 2020 survey.
The study polled over 26,000 people in 26 different countries and uncovered that Australia’s public satisfaction with its government’s handling of the pandemic decreased by 27% between 2020 and 2021. Furthermore, Greece showed the biggest decrease in public satisfaction; going from 72% in 2020 to just 42% in 2021.
When asked about vaccine passports, 64% of Brits said they would welcome passports at large public events, such as football matches or concerts. Furthermore, over four in ten (41%) British citizens said they would support the use of vaccine passports in restaurants. Eight in ten countries are in majority favour of vaccine passes.
In both Germany and the UK, there was a 41% majority in favour of vaccine passes on public transport, with Denmark, Hungary and Poland the only countries without a majority.
The research found that people believed their government was prioritising limiting the spread of coronavirus, with a third of Polish and Indonesian citizens wanting more freedom to allow ordinary life to happen. Furthermore, a quarter of Britons said the Government’s response was too restrictive on personal freedoms, an increase from 13% in 2020.
In comparison, the number of Spanish nationals thinking their freedom has been sacrificed unjustly was the same in 2020 at 34%, with Brazil seeing a decrease from 39% to 36% in 2021.
In 2020, around 21% of Germans said their ordinary life was taken away in order to slow down coronavirus infections, which increased to 34% in 2021. Every nation observed in the survey showed an increase in the number of people who believe the priority was on stopping infections.
