Multi-browser testing is the practice of testing a website or web application across multiple browser platforms and devices simultaneously. The process is completed through automated testing which uses specialised tools to efficiently and thoroughly test the performance of web applications across different user platforms. 

Multi-browser testing is often used in market research because online surveys attract a diverse user base and will experience a series of complex interactions. As a result, it is essential the surveys function correctly and display consistently across different browsers. Surveys are also frequently released so it is important to have a fast testing process. 

The importance of multi-browser testing in market research, more specifically survey design, can’t be understated. It is key for identifying performance issues early, ensuring they are resolved before it can impact users, helping maintain a high-quality standard. Also, each individual browser has different features and capabilities which can be utilised to optimise performance. Both factors contribute to a better user experience. 

Not only does it help with performance, but it also allows for greater market reach. Compatibility with many different devices and browsers means that a higher number of respondents can seamlessly answer surveys, improving the chances of obtaining a diverse and therefore more representative sample.
