Desk research

Desk research

Desk research in market research refers to the process of gathering, reviewing, and collating secondary information from existing sources. This information can include published research reports, industry studies, newspaper and magazine articles, laws and regulations, maps, statistical databases, and other forms of media such as video or audio.

Desk research can be conducted to:

  • Inform or supplement primary research.

  • Provide a standalone analysis of a market, competitor, or audience.

  • Identify trends, benchmarks, or gaps in existing knowledge before commissioning new research.

At DJS Research, desk research forms an integral part of our methodology, helping clients gain a comprehensive understanding of their sector, audience, or topic area efficiently and cost-effectively.
